Blended Names

When we get married, I will be taking Fiance's last name, dropping my middle name, and my maiden name will become my middle name. I did consider (for like 15 minutes) keeping my own name, but I think it makes it easier for our future children if we both have the same last name. Plus Fiance has a cool last name and it sounds good with my name - hee hee.

Anyways, I saw this on Always a Bridesmaid. It's a Name Game at the Wedding Channel. Its kind of funny. I wasn't actually considering blended names, but here are a few of the funnier ones that came up when I did Fiance's and my last name.

I decided to play along and it came up with some really great ones for me:

Andialkiewicz

Bialkiewiczen

Birsen

Bialkiersen

His last name is already a mouthful, I would hate to try to pronounce any of those!

I got a good laugh out of seeing what my husband and I's blended names could be. I did take my husband's last name. It was a little weird at first to get used to a new name, but it will be so much easier when we have kids. I actually went from the number one most common last name to the number two. Ha ha!

Enjoy your day!

My whole life I firmly believed that you take your hubby's last name...that is until I realized that I am the last person in my family with our last name and no one to pass it on. It's sad when you realize it stops with you. He doesn't like the idea of my middle name being my maden name, and yes it would be funny sounding, but I feel like I'm mourning the soon-to-be lost last name.

I definitely plan on taking my husband's name when I get married... unless it is something totally weird like Pickle or something. Not a good example, but you get the picture. When I was in Law School our Family Law prof did a survey of the class asking how many of the girls had or planned to take their husband's name. In a large lecture room, only 3 girls raised their hands!!! One of them was me. Perhaps the others were afraid to admit they were traditional considering the professor's husband took her name!

I have four names first middle maiden last. I did not hyphenate, I simply added another name. I could have taken my first and middle added together to make one first name. If that makes sense but in the end that's how I went.
I did for many reasons, mostly personal. I'll share why one day.
