Question for My Readers

(Photo from Happy Homemaker's Blog)

I really love this idea - having flip-flops available for your guests. I am thinking about this for the wedding. My questions for you all are 1) if you had this or have been to a wedding where they had this, did the guests wear them? 2) if you were at a wedding where they had these - would you use a pair? 3) about how many pairs would one need? and sorry lastly 4) do you think flip-flops are too hard to dance in?

Thanks for your input.

Happy Homemaker - if you see this, I hope you don't mind that I used your picture

Mom - I know we haven't talked about this - so feel free to chime in :)

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. My son is getting married in July so I am very interested in wedding blogs. I have read hundreds even though I'm not really planning this one...except for the rehearsal dinner. I love weddings and all that they entail!

Everything you have picked out I love...I like the classic look also!

I think the flip-flops would be good for a destination wedding on an island somewhere!

In just about every wedding I've been in, flip flops have always been included in the gift to the bridesmaids. We love them and have no problem at all dancing in them. You can actually dance better!

I've only attended one beach wedding where these were offered and only the females wore them. I love the idea and would definitely have them if I were getting married on the beach. Good luck!

Great idea! At the last wedding I was in all of us girls (bride included) danced in our flip flops. I think it's perfect. Of course make sure the colors compliment your theme and you and the groom should have white and black.

Just wanted to thank you for the comment today! We actually did flip flops for our wedding (check it out here: http://thepreppywedding.blogspot.com/2007/04/preppy-wedding-details.html).

They were a HUGE hit. Everyone wore them and loved them. I bought them at Old Navy and figured 1/2 of the girls attending would want some. Then I bought them at the end of the year sale at Old Navy in various sizes (go heavy on the 6,7 and 8).

Hope this helps!

Hi there,
I just found your cute blog and love reading about your wedding. I *just* got married... 3 weeks ago this weekend so now I'm on the other side of the wedding.

Anyway, I've been to a wedding that had flip flop baskets and I don't remember if other guests did but I definitely used them.

I think that they don't get used either because guests don't know about them or too many are provided. Don't count on everyone grabbing a pair, and make sure that they are easy to find. They are such a great alternative to having black feet from dancing barefoot!

YOU TOTALLY NEED TO DO THAT!!! We had them at my wedding, and they were so fun! We put them in a cute basket, and I made a sign that said "Ladies, kick off your shoes and DANCE!" on it. I bought them in various sizes in red and black (my wedding colors) - we just bought 5-10 when we could and by the time of my wedding, we had enough for everyone. Everyone still comments about the flip-flops!

We didn't do flip flops but we did have a basket full of bright colored pashmina that women could take and wear and keep- they were a huge hit- especially since it got a little chilly outside the tent as the sun went down. The whole asthetic of the basket full of something that is just meant to make guests more comfortable is really lovely.

What a great idea!!! I think even if they don't wear them at first they will eventually wear them at some point in the evening!! Right now Gap has some fun mens rubber flops on sale and the womens ones, while not on sale ar a decent price and kind of cute. I offer this in case you hadn't a place to start looking yet!!! Seems like the planning is going well, loving the details!!
